- How much does it cost to renovate a BTO flat in Singapore?
- BTO renovation typically costs from around S$30,000 for a smaller flat to S$50,000–S$70,000 for a 4- or 5-room unit. Because BTO flats are handed over in a near-bare state with new fittings, they often need less hacking than resale flats, which helps control costs.
- How long does BTO renovation take?
- Most BTO renovations take about 8 to 12 weeks from the start of works. Carpentry usually accounts for the longest lead time, so confirming your design early helps avoid delays.
- What is a BTO renovation package?
- A BTO renovation package is a bundled price from an interior design firm or contractor covering common works such as flooring, carpentry, painting, and basic electrical. Packages make budgeting easier but always check exactly what is and isn't included.
- Do you need a permit to renovate a BTO flat?
- Yes — works such as flooring, electrical changes, and certain fixtures require an HDB permit, which your HDB-licensed contractor applies for. Note that hacking structural walls is generally not allowed in newer BTO layouts.
- Can you start BTO renovation before key collection?
- No. Renovation can only begin after you have collected your keys and your contractor has obtained the necessary HDB permits. You can, however, plan your design and get quotes in advance.
