Tile calculator for Singapore rooms

Estimate tile quantity, wastage, complete boxes, and optional material cost for an HDB, BTO, or condo floor.

Room and tile measurements

How this tile calculator works

The calculator multiplies the room length by its width, adds your selected wastage, and divides the purchase area by the area of one tile. It then rounds the quantity up to complete boxes.

Choosing a wastage allowance

Use at least 10% for normal cuts and replacement pieces. Increase the allowance for diagonal laying, complex room edges, strong shade variation, or tiles that may be difficult to match later.

What the estimate excludes

Tile quantity is only one part of a flooring quotation. Ask separately about substrate preparation, hacking, screed, waterproofing, adhesive, grout, trims, delivery, labour, and disposal.

Tile calculator FAQ

How many extra tiles should I buy?
Ten percent is a practical starting allowance for a straightforward rectangular room. Diagonal layouts, complex cuts, patterned tiles, or irregular rooms may need 15% or more. Confirm the final allowance with the installer.
Why does the calculator round up to full boxes?
Tiles are normally sold in complete boxes. The calculator first finds the tile count including wastage, then rounds that number up using the tiles-per-box value supplied by the retailer.
Can I use this calculator for bathroom walls?
Yes. Enter the width and height of one wall as the room length and width, calculate each tiled wall, and add the resulting quantities. Subtract large openings manually or use the result as a conservative estimate.
Does the material estimate include installation?
No. The optional price calculation covers tile area only. Adhesive, grout, trims, waterproofing, screed, hacking, delivery, labour, and GST may be quoted separately.
